DINING & OUTINGS
Frank (dining) & Fran (outings) rise to the occasion for this big job, organising regular lunches, dinners and trips.
CHRISTMAS IN JULY
NELSON BAY GOLF CLUB
THURSDAY 29th JULY 2021
74 members and guests enjoyed a delicious dinner over-looking the picturesque Nelson Bay golf course. Fran again endured the tensions of organising an event during COVID, but delivered a great evening.
The DJ provided only background music as COVID restrictions did not allow dancing .... all guests had to remain seated but convivial conversation at each table made the dinner a success.

FRIDAY 7th MAY 2021
52 members and prospective members travelled by Port Stephens coach to Brooklyn, where they boarded the Riverboat Postman for a boat trip on the mighty Hawkesbury River.
The delivery route covers about 40km of the lower Hawkebury River, as far upstream as Marlow Creek and delivering mail to Dangar Island, Kangaroo Point, Milson Island, Bar Point, Fishermans Point and Milsons Passage. The service is the last remaining mail boat operation in Australia and is contracted by Australia Post to deliver mail and other essentials to isolated settlements on the Hawkesbury River that do not have road access.
The trip includes a welcome morning tea and a delicious Ploughman's style lunch together with a very entertaining commentary on the history of the river. Our skipper, Rob, was very amusing and the brochure advises that at least 95% of what we heard is true.

SOLDIERS POINT BOWLING CLUB
THURSDAY 11th MARCH 2021
Just less than 90 members and guests gathered at Soldiers Point Bowling Club to mark the end of the Probus year and for the 2021/22 Committee and MIG Leaders to be introduced.
Newly elected President, Phil Dodd, introduced the Committee and MIG Leaders. The Committee welcomed new members Anne Shaw and John Rebrick to join continuing members Ann Gibson, Carol Hokin, Marilynn Buchanan and Gill Whitton.
A great lunch was provided by the Soldiers Point Bowling Club staff to round out a very good day for the Club despite the impact of COVID.
